Golf Course Update - 5.17.2023
As the busy season of tournaments and events is upon us, I want to take the time to share an update on the health and condition of the greens. Weather is the biggest factor in determining how quickly the greens, tees, fairways, and roughs respond to all the nutrients we feed them to bring them out of winter hibernation. During winter, the heavy rains and snowfall leaches all the nutrients the plant has stored out through the soil. This leads to a nutrient deficiency in the early spring when we are trying to bring everything back around to our beautiful Mountain Air standards. From aerification day (April 3) through May 9, we had seven days with temperatures above sixty-five degrees, which is not ideal for trying to grow in greens that have just been aerified. However, the good news is that last week we had warmer temperatures and average rainfall, which allowed the greens to take up all the nutrients we have applied to get them into the best shape possible.
