Irrigation system is now running under its own power and we can report no damage to the piping system! We are working through some electrical issues caused by the lightning but these are minor! Good news!!
We are making strides every day to return the course to the condition we all expect! All trees on the front nine have now been cut back to the wood line and off the course. It has been amazing to see the change from day to day! Below are pictures of bears playing on 8 green and before and after pictures of 18 green. Considering we had 16 trees on the green the damage is minimal and can be fixed in house!
We recently finished most of the sod work on the back nine. We will be doing some minor patch work to help areas grow in and heal faster. We also completed the patch work on the cart paths. Now that all this is completed the back nine will re open on Tuesday April 2. It will be cart path only for a couple more weeks to allow the sod to take root. Since this blog is for major projects this will be my last post until we start new projects. Thank you for your support!
The last few days have been spent treating the course for snow mold. We apply a preventative on greens and tees around Thanksgiving that held up well. Due to cost, we only treat the fairways if we see snow mold pop up. This season is the first time in 4 years we have had snow mold show up in the fairways. As you may guess by the name, snow mold is caused by prolonged snow cover.
The last two weeks we have been hauling the 320 yards of mulch needed for the Clubhouse, Wellness Center, tennis courts, pickleball area, and golf course. If we haul the mulch ourselves, we spend $17 a yard. If we have it hauled for us, we pay $40 a yard. The mulch is being stored in the employee parking area and at golf course maintenance.
The golf course maintenance crew has been busy clearing snow at the clubhouse today. We are thankful for the snow before the extreme cold. The snow will serve as a blanket to protect the greens from the harsh temperatures.
The Learning Center irrigation was completed last week. We had a couple “warm” days last week that allowed us to complete testing. All piping was tested on Friday and passed with no issues. All wiring was tested on Saturday with no issues. The irrigation crew is now gone except a couple guys helping with clean up and inventory of left over parts and supplies. Attached picture is test results for the Learning Center.
